Brian was born in Sacramento, California.  At the age of 6 months, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Brian received a mainstreamed education, attending elementary, middle, and high school with few supports. His parents and teachers taught him to be as independent as possible. He attended the University of Alabama receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in December 1995. After a few years of teaching, Brian had the opportunity to work at Auburn University, while pursuing his Master's Degree.

He received a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in August 2003. After being a Job Coach, a MAPS Navigator, an Independent Living Specialist, Brian became Vice President of Administration at Moore Coal Company, the family company, in October 2011.


​Brian is still involved in disability advocacy as a Junior Board member at Disability Rights & Resources and a member of the Jefferson County School Career Technical Advisory Board. Brian also serves on the Board of the Bessemer Hall of History.  Brian is a strong advocate of Disability Awareness, Self-Awareness, and Self Determination.
